Chapter two.

The door was almost falling off with the amount of knocking that was happening. My head almost burst out.

 

“Fuck off!” I shouted but whoever was there didn’t stop.

 

I had to get my behind up and move to the door and open up or this guy would take it all the way down.

 

“I’m coming. “ I said as I half opened my eyes to go look for my robe to get to the door fast or this guy would make it more badly on my ears.

 

I took my robe and started to walk out of my room. All of a sudden the person on the door stopped. Just when I had even gotten out of bed just to get to the door. I came slowly to the front of my apartment and opened the door. Weirdly enough, it seemed like the one who was there before had already left and decided to go away. I looked down the hallways just to make sure that no one was around and then I noticed my mail on the floor. Well that had to be the mail being brought to me. And then I remembered exactly why there could be that type of knock at my door at that kind of time in the morning.

 

I took the mail and went back into the apartment. I went to the fridge and took out some water. I put it in a glass and started to see the letters. Let me tell you why I knew that all these letters would come to Molly Mendes at this time of day. I have been having financial problems. See I lost my job as an assistant about four to five months ago. It was basically because my boss was an asshole and he wanted his way with me. Since then my savings have been used up in maintaining my life and I haven’t been getting enough by editing for Patrick and so my bills

Have been piling up. I had to clear some of them soon or I would be in very big trouble sooner that I thought. I immediately felt my head having a migraine. I needed to find a solution quick. I decided to go to Patrick’s house and see if I could get a loan from him or something.

 

Later on…

 

I arrived at his house later on and found the door open. He lived at am much better neighborhood than mine and was quite comfortable because his channel wasn’t his only way on making money. Finding his door open was strange because he was too sensitive about his equipment getting lost and so he never was this careless. I decided to walk in and then I heard voices of people arguing in a very loud manner. It sounded like it was coming from the living room upstairs and so I decided to go up and see. At that point I was sure if I was just getting into a fight that wasn’t mine and all but I did it anyway. I got up there and found that Patrick was arguing with his ex-girlfriend.

 

“This was always your problem. You never took anything in our life seriously. I always thought of our stuff seriously but you always took me or granted and now look at us. At Least think about your son. “She said to him.

 

“How is this about you? For the record all I did was test your loyalty. And also I know you are just using my son to get something out of me and trust me you won’t get it. “He replied while looking away.

 

“Oh! So you think that lowly of me this days huh? I seriously can’t believe you. All I’m asking is for you to care for me and your child but I think it will not work. Say goodbye to him because I’m leaving and you will never see him again. “She said before grabbing he bag and beginning to walk in my direction.

 

She seemed very angry. She looked like a lioness who has had an unsuccessful hunt and has been injured in the process. She stood for a second and looked at me.

 

“Uh, hi?”  I said.

 

She looked at me from head to toe and then at Patrick and then walked out. Patrick did nothing to stop her. I said nothing for a few seconds until we heard her bang the front door as if she wanted to tear it to pieces.

 

“Uh, I’m sorry for coming in like that. I didn’t mean to. I just found the door open and so I let myself in. Had I known I would have stayed outside? “I explained.

 

Patrick didn’t even care. He went over to his fridge and grabbed a beer. He went back to the couch and began to drink it.

 

I came over and sat next to him. “Are you okay?” I asked.

He stayed silent for some seconds giving me the impression that he wanted to be alone. I stood up and slowly started to walk away.

 

“I should have never tested her. “He said. I turned around and came back.

“What test?” I asked.

 

“You most probably never saw it because I took it down from my channel but it was among the first episodes I had ever posted. I thought it would be funny for the guy who exposes cheaters to actually test his girl to see if she is loyal. It went well but as soon as she found out she went crazy. It was funny that I set her up you know, “he narrated as he took down the beer like it was juice, “because she had not yet told me that she was actually pregnant with our first child. She was so disappointed that she broke things off and took off. I had never seen her again until now. Our child is now one year old and I haven’t ever seen him. It hurts you know. “

 

I felt sorry for him as I saw tears rolling down his cheeks. I didn’t even know what to tell him after all that he had just confessed. It could wait but as for that time I had to just cool down and be a supportive friend to my boss. I could see the sin in his eyes and I wanted it to go away before telling him of my problems.
